Counting calories

11.11.22 | 252 pounds

One week in and 4 pounds down! I did see a 249 on the scale early this week, but nothing in the 40's since. Overall it was a great start, a good primer week. About 4 days now I have been doing intermittent fasting. I fast all day (except coffee, coffee doesn't count of course) until late afternoon then I open a 4-5 hour eating window. I also drink water and propel. I haven't been super strict during the open window; although, I do make an effort to at least be somewhat healthy with my choices.

I plan to stick with intermittent fasting (IF), but I want to start to record my caloric intake. In the past, this has been the only way for me to see consistent results. So I guess it is time to dust off the old calorie counting app and get into Week 2. I will also be staying busy working on some physical projects so my lifestyle could probably be considered active. I have a bunch of home projects and my business, Vroom.Me, keeps me busy cleaning cars! I will shoot for 2000 calories per day. Counting calories will really help me focus on eating filling calories which typically will be healthier.

So, how does one count calories? My best results have come from using a diet app such as Noom. This will let me quickly input what I am eating and most of the time it is already in the database and the macros automatically load. Really no excuses when it comes to counting calories, they make it way too easy. The most work I typically need to do is sometimes weigh a food. Weighing it is grams will usually be most accurate, but ounces should be fine too.
